Basic products, to many people, are seen as so cheap that they must be bad quality. So...
we need to give people a reason to buy them!
- Sustainable/eco friendly...this could be done in the packaging we use. We would need a way to let the customers know this...bold type on packaging (see inspiration here)
- Save money. The current the packaging makes them appear too cheap and this is one of our main concepts behind the brief, to make the products appear better quality but for the same price. However we need to be careful not to let this work against us eg people thinking it looks too good so presuming it is expensive before realising the price. This could be where promotional material comes in. If we promote the products as large displays and banners in the store people will recognise the products on the shelves.
- Suggest ideas of how to use the products. Show that simple products can have many uses, making the value of it appear more significant and therefore attracting customers
